it all depends what your looking for. theres three different types of living here, you got the farmllife (fazendas) then you got the city life like sao paulo and Rio then you got the small coastal cities like Ubatuba and fernando de noronha ( caicara) or bahia. farmlife is like the states boring as sh*t but clean air and a slow paced life. city life comes with pollution, fast paced and hectic. coastal life you have slow paced and clean air and its hard to get products, you pay a lil more for everything. everything about half as the states, half the crime, half the people, half paced. people are always talking about the crime here but in reality its not, its like when people talk about crime in their city, they always pump it up. ive been in and out of brazil and ive only seen one tourist get robbed and that was 20 years ago. only people that flaunt their money get robbed.

I agree with Dan. It depends on what you are looking for. We, as a company, are building a resort near the town of Canoa Quebrada in the North-East of Brazil. We chose these surroundings because of the good climate and the relaxed atmosphere. As for your question for the safest place to live...well you can't avoid crime but you can do your best to minimize it. Therefore we chose to integrate the local population in our project. By going to school in our BB Education Foundation we can teach them how to speak English (and reading, math, etc.) so they will be able to take a job in our resort once it is finished. This way you will create a measure of social control of you know what i mean. I like Minas Gerais. Is safe, is wonderful! Some cities: Belo Horizonte, Ipatinga, São Domingos do Prata, Juiz de Fora and others!
