I am thinking of moving either to Brazil or to Holland, and would like to know the difference in lifestyle and culture between the two countries. I have been to Holland and loved it, but I also like latin culture. What are the pros and cons of each? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

I came across a lot of Dutch guys living in Brazil. Not many women though. Usualy wine growers, hotel workers. They also seemed to all hate the Netherlands.

You can have the best of both moving to Holambra a city in Brazil funded by Dutch imigrants. They keep the tradition of flowers producers and this region become the largest exporter of flowers in Brazil. Also Holambra is in the richest Brazilian region in Sao Paulo state. Google for Holambra discover more about this lovely city and surroundings.

I have not been in Brazil, but I do live in the Netherlands. The most deciding thing in the Netherlands is that it is crowded. 16 500 000 living in a small country, many of them living in the western half of the country. There is no place in the west of the Netherlands where you can not see humans or their influence on the land. And that also results in many rules and regulations about almost anything. On the positive side, there are not many poor people, but also not many very rich either. Traditionally the culture was influenced by the Protestant lifestyle, work hard and live sober, do not show off, and while not many people are going to church anymore, or are even part of a church at all, the attitude is still very much the same. What I hear of Brazil is that the cities are big and crowded, but that in between there are big stretches where you have lots of space with hardly any people at all. The differences in income are vast, with lots of people who do not earn enough for a decent living, that is what I have heard, as I have not been there myself. Religion influence has been Roman Catholic, with as best known 'excess' the well known Carnival.

I am Dutch and I have been to Brazil but I can't see many similarities between the two countries! Except that Dutch people like to go on vacation in Brazil cause they enjoy the beaches, the samba, the drinks, the girls, the laid back atmosphere, the cheap meals, etc. I have been traveling around the country and I liked it. However going to the big cities like Sao Paulo and Rio can be very dangerous in some areas and so totally different from life in Holland and in Europe. When you see security with big guns next to bank and shops, children living in boxes and drug ghettos where the police is afraid to enter you know you're nowhere near Holland. There's also a different lifestyle regarding sexual behavior
