How to purchase in Brazil with an international credit card

How to purchase in Brazil with an international credit card?
I live outside Brazil but need to make a purchase there on any online store, such as americanas.com.br or submarino.com.br. or any other who sells digital cameras or MP3 Players. The problem is that non of them seem to accept credit cards issues outside of Brazil... Do you know of any store which does? Do you know of any work around?

you could try this website its www.mercadolivre.com.br its the brasilian version of ebay and has a system similar to paypal called "mercado pago" not 100% sure your gonna be able to but its worth a try,.. do you have a CPF number? i have a ccard issued in brazil if u want we could arrange some deal, i have a paypal account, do you? latentemaroc@yahoo.fr
2 :
No, but keep searching, don't just trust. I bid on eBay for a product from Brazil, paid through Paypal. $699. The product never arrived and eBay and Paypal were both worthless for months. I believe I'd have just lost out except that I funded Paypal with my MasterCard, and they reversed my charge and went after the refund at no cost or hassle to me. Watch out. I have been a Chartered Financial Consultant for 20 years and I barely survived this one.

Are there any truly safe places to live in Brazil that don't require a barb-wired wall around your house

Are there any truly safe places to live in Brazil that don't require a barb-wired wall around your house?
I adore Brazil and I would love to live there, but after taking a bus trip from Fortaleza to Sao Paulo, all I saw was fortified homes... everywhere, in every city and town and village...

Hey, I´ve got a wonderful idea. You can travel here and we would be married, so you could stay here and I could stay there. How ´s that? LOL.... Over here, if you dont have a fortificated place to stay, you will be dead. Now in Rio de Janeiro we have been in a battle field, a lot of injured and dead people. It´s because that we want so badly go to USA.
2 :
The northern part of Brazil is safer than Sao Paulo and/or Rio, however, it's also much less developed... If you're moving there from a foreign country, I would recommend a residential building, since they're nice, have security and indoor parking.
3 :
No pain no gain, my friend. Ok, just kidding. If you go to the small cities it's not violent.
4 :
South of Brazil (States Santa Catarina, Parana) is very nice...there they have a big European colony...
5 :
Why don't you move to Paraty : http://www.paraty.com.br/iindex.asp It's a beautiful old colonial town half way between , Rio and Sao Paulo. There's no crime there , and you are not far from Rio and Sao Paulo, about 4 hours drive.
6 :
Riberao Preto, beautiful, peaceful, no violence...all the perks with little to no crime rate..many people from Sao Paulo are now relocating to smaller towns, this one happens to be great...otherwise to answer your question, unless you live in an apartment building with a door man and high gates, you better have your house barb-wired, houses are not safe at all.
7 :
Tim, As you said yourself you adore Brazil, therefore, you understand that it is a developing country and by being so you will find social injustice everywhere, which generates criminality. Now, I will answer your question with another one: Are ther any TRULY SAFE places in the US? Like any city that doesn't require police, and so on and so forth... We all know the answer to that! But, still, we need good people to help us make life a little better for everyone, the locals and the foreign visitors as well. Best wishes!!!
8 :
I dont think so...maybe if u live near a native´s tribe!
9 :
Well, I agree with one person on here that said there are really no true safe places--even in the US. The Northern part of Brazil is just as dangerous if you don't know what neighborhood you are in or who you are with. And as far as living in a native's tribe...That is just about as dangerous as walking with your pocket book open in Rio! LOL. I live there and have a wall...and I live in a small town. People still climb it and I am robbed every now and then. Once I was even sitting outside and watched 3 guys come up my walk sneaking around my house. I got them to leave, but I tell you the one thing that will keep you safe is a big bad ugly dog!

How to reduce fees for transferring money from Brazil to USA

How to reduce fees for transferring money from Brazil to USA?
I want to get some money from my mother (living in Brazil). I live in OR, USA. What is the best way to do this. I have been advised to open an HSBC or Citibank account in my name in US and she does an international transfer through her hsbc/citibank account. I am afraid I might end up paying too much fees at both sides of the transaction. Anyone help?

The best bet is to have Mother inquire to HSBC in Brazil about their Premier Service for sending your child to school abroad. While Mother is asking the bank about fees you can check out the fees on Western Union. I think these are the 2 best options for finding the lowest fees and ease.
2 :
Depending on the amount you are sending, I would recommend you buying one of those Visa TravelMoney cards in Brazil, and have her send it to you. This is effectively a pre-paid credit card, so you can add funds to it in Brazil, and you will be able to use the card in the US to make purchases without paying any fees, or use the card to withdraw money from ATMs at some small fee. http://usa.visa.com/personal/cards/prepaid/visa_travel_money.html

Tudo bem meu amigo? Try the two links I provided, maybe they'll guide you to the book you want, for example Google books has a number of books called Christian Harp, some of which are over a hundred years old. From Google books you can even download a PDF file of the book you think is the one you want. Check it out and let me know. Abraço!

I am an American woman who eventually wants to live and work in Brazil, what are the men like in Brazil?
What are the personalities of the men like in Brazil? I know that not everyone is the same but is there a general attitude I can expect?

Futebol (soccer) is obviously, huge in our life, and next time i checked, over 90% of the earths population. you really should be able to speak portuguese since not many get the proper education to speak english. i would tell you about the Favelas, mugging tourists, and how bad things happen in a 3rd world country, but ill leave that for you to find out since everyone is mad at me telling nothing but the truth. We are not arrogant people (depends where youre from sometimes), High-Fashion clothes or style means little to us, we have respect, no intentions to show-off anything of ours since most people live life the hard way, and yeah, i think im done

I can speak from experience! My boyfriend is Brazilian!!! Brazilian guys are very laid back and affectionate. They are passionate about the beauty of things and they love the beauty of women. They are funny, sweet, optimistic, and hospitable. They are also really good at ... ;p I could gush about Brazilian guys, but to keep it brief, I'll say that the biggest traits you'll notice (and this is just from my own experience) are their affectionate nature and general relaxed attitude. Also, the Brazilian accent is SO hot. Feel free to email me if you have anymore questions like this!! :)
3 :
They like soccer very much, beer, barbacue and beauty .With regard to the esthetic kind, you can find blond, black, japonese, brunt, etc. I think you can expect a kiss on your face, and they´ll be nice if you ´re nice too.Brazilians are nice, they know how to be friendly.

Erika said it and all. I couldn't said better myself.

Dont do this... brazilian men is galinha...

Hey girl...I have been living in Brazil for 6 months...and let me just say, that in lots of places in Brazil, there are a lot more woman than men. For example, I am living in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina...a beautiful island in the south of Brazil....which is also the capital of Santa Catarina. It's like PARADISE here and an amazing city....but the ratio of woman to men is about 3/1. And let me just tell you.......there are A LOT of beautiful woman here! So pretty much all the hot guys with good personalities, already have girlfriends...and the guys that don't, can easily go from girl to girl "ficando"....aka hooking up! I've already experienced this here...when you meet guys... it's tough to find one that actually calls!!! I know that there is another city in Brazil that is known for the same problem...but I can't remember which one it is! So anyways, I would say come to Floripa for vacation, but not to live...(if you want to meet a lot of single guys..).. However, the guys that I have met in my age range so far have been so sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and warm! They try to take care of you more than American guys and lot's of them aren't ashamed to dance..( a latin thing of course =) )...They love natural beauty...most girls here are a lot more natural than in the USA...(let their hair air dry and don't wear makeup everyday) There are a ton of good looking guys here...but in general they are shorter than American guys (which is tough for me b/c I am 5'8)...the farther north you go in Brazil, the darker and shorter guys tend to be (in general!!!) I am in the South, so there is a lot more European ancestry....guys are taller, more lighter eyes and skin....but of course, there are all types of guys here...almost everyone in Brazil is mixed!!! I will definately say that there are more beautiful woman than beautiful men!! Almost everyone agrees on that....Girl...there is A LOT of female competition here in Brazil!!! =( And it's not uncommon to see an average looking guy with a beautiful girl!!! But, in general, Brazilians are very open and warm and love American woman! They will love to talk to you and hear about your life and your culture!!! Lot's of guys already speak a little English, if they don't speak it well!...because American influence is everywhere here (tv, movies, etc.) Brazil is amazing! You will love it! Good luck =)

I'm carioca (I was born in Rio de Janeiro City) and I'm passionate to soccer, surf, video-games, swiin, movie theather, shopping mall, sk8boarding, Hard Rock Cafe, visit Glass Towers of Rio de Janeiro, walk on jingles and beaches, golf, visit museums, study, surf on the net, radical sports. But I love study, work and read. I love read scientist books on Copacabana Beach or surf on net on Ipanema with my laptop and see the sea.

brazilian men are God; women are trash. A man can beat you, torture you, burn and cripple you, for any perceived slight pertaining to manhood and marriage. You'll even get the fine, the guy won't get any punishment. Amaerican embassy/consulates don't evade brazilian law, so the rights and privileges you enjoy in the USA are not at all applicable in Brazil or any other foreign country for that matter. However, It's your life. expect and prepare for the worst, be pleasantly surprised if things don't turn out negative or go [farther] south...

Spraynwalls, You are a totally imbecile and retard. Are you drunk or what? Who told you, moron, women have no rights in Brazil? Are you trying to 'picture us' as another muslin fanatic theocratic ditactorship? Or a typical third world nation where laws don't exist? Brazil have one of the best and most appreciated code for the women's rights, and the law is very rigorous. Brazilian men are normal. Nor best and neither worst, but, just brazilians. Suzie "...in Rio De Janerio there are many drug addicts manily favelas, i think the best place is sao paulo..." Jardim Ângela, Capão Redondo, Freguesia do Ó, Grajaú, Vila Madalena are famous slums, all from Rio, of Course... By the way: the police from São Paulo have the records for intercepting drugs (cocaine) but, it would be sold only in Rio, of course...

Men in Brazil have a different perspective of beauty than American men. They are aggresive if they think you are easy. If they like you they will treat you with respect. The Brazilian man loves the BUNDA(BUTT) and not so much the fake pamela anderson breasts that you have in the US. The culture is similar to other male dominated south american countries but you should have more power being an american women. Be careful though. Judging from your picture you seem to be brown which means you might be mistaken for a local and be overlooked. Also be aware that opposites attracts in Brazil. Exotic to Brazilian men are blonde hair blue eyes even though there are many down south. If you dress professional and hang out in the business areas you should be fine. One thing you need to be aware of is that prostitution is legal so choose your friends carefully and don't blend in too well. If men think you are a local they might be aggressive. I had a well dressed american friend who was mistaken for a prostitute because she was black(or mix) until she told them she was an american. Good luck.I hope this helps.

Some of the poor guys can be very sleazy when it comes to girls, others have a huge heart even though they are poor it really depends where you are staying. My family is from Brazilia and they are rich well educated, in Rio De Janerio there are many drug addicts manily favelas, i think the best place is sao paulo even though people think its not a good tourist place. I hope you have a good job there. i can help with anything on this subject if you like.

I think it's great that you want to move to Brazil. I just came back from there last week from visiting my family. My whole family is Brazilian and we moved to the U.S. for my dad's job, and now we go back during the summers. I think the biggest difference you will see between American and Brazilian men is how open and warm Brazilians are. I know everyone here wrote pretty much the same thing, but that's because it really is true. The men are not afraid or embarassed to talk about the beauty in the world and they can quickly start a conversation with any stranger. Also, don't be surprised if the first time you meet a guy he kisses your cheek. It's like a handshake, and you can also kiss his :] Men there can talk for hours about anything and are always curious to learn more about others. This is the general attitude. Of course there is always the possibility of you meeting some jerk, but they're in every country. And if you'd really like to hear a guy talk nonstop, just bring up soccer, but I usually try not to ;] Good Luck!
