I am an American woman who eventually wants to live and work in Brazil, what are the men like in Brazil?
What are the personalities of the men like in Brazil? I know that not everyone is the same but is there a general attitude I can expect?

Futebol (soccer) is obviously, huge in our life, and next time i checked, over 90% of the earths population. you really should be able to speak portuguese since not many get the proper education to speak english. i would tell you about the Favelas, mugging tourists, and how bad things happen in a 3rd world country, but ill leave that for you to find out since everyone is mad at me telling nothing but the truth. We are not arrogant people (depends where youre from sometimes), High-Fashion clothes or style means little to us, we have respect, no intentions to show-off anything of ours since most people live life the hard way, and yeah, i think im done

I can speak from experience! My boyfriend is Brazilian!!! Brazilian guys are very laid back and affectionate. They are passionate about the beauty of things and they love the beauty of women. They are funny, sweet, optimistic, and hospitable. They are also really good at ... ;p I could gush about Brazilian guys, but to keep it brief, I'll say that the biggest traits you'll notice (and this is just from my own experience) are their affectionate nature and general relaxed attitude. Also, the Brazilian accent is SO hot. Feel free to email me if you have anymore questions like this!! :)

They like soccer very much, beer, barbacue and beauty .With regard to the esthetic kind, you can find blond, black, japonese, brunt, etc. I think you can expect a kiss on your face, and they´ll be nice if you ´re nice too.Brazilians are nice, they know how to be friendly.

Hey girl...I have been living in Brazil for 6 months...and let me just say, that in lots of places in Brazil, there are a lot more woman than men. For example, I am living in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina...a beautiful island in the south of Brazil....which is also the capital of Santa Catarina. It's like PARADISE here and an amazing city....but the ratio of woman to men is about 3/1. And let me just tell you.......there are A LOT of beautiful woman here! So pretty much all the hot guys with good personalities, already have girlfriends...and the guys that don't, can easily go from girl to girl "ficando"....aka hooking up! I've already experienced this here...when you meet guys... it's tough to find one that actually calls!!! I know that there is another city in Brazil that is known for the same problem...but I can't remember which one it is! So anyways, I would say come to Floripa for vacation, but not to live...(if you want to meet a lot of single guys..).. However, the guys that I have met in my age range so far have been so sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and warm! They try to take care of you more than American guys and lot's of them aren't ashamed to dance..( a latin thing of course =) )...They love natural beauty...most girls here are a lot more natural than in the USA...(let their hair air dry and don't wear makeup everyday) There are a ton of good looking guys here...but in general they are shorter than American guys (which is tough for me b/c I am 5'8)...the farther north you go in Brazil, the darker and shorter guys tend to be (in general!!!) I am in the South, so there is a lot more European ancestry....guys are taller, more lighter eyes and skin....but of course, there are all types of guys here...almost everyone in Brazil is mixed!!! I will definately say that there are more beautiful woman than beautiful men!! Almost everyone agrees on that....Girl...there is A LOT of female competition here in Brazil!!! =( And it's not uncommon to see an average looking guy with a beautiful girl!!! But, in general, Brazilians are very open and warm and love American woman! They will love to talk to you and hear about your life and your culture!!! Lot's of guys already speak a little English, if they don't speak it well!...because American influence is everywhere here (tv, movies, etc.) Brazil is amazing! You will love it! Good luck =)

I'm carioca (I was born in Rio de Janeiro City) and I'm passionate to soccer, surf, video-games, swiin, movie theather, shopping mall, sk8boarding, Hard Rock Cafe, visit Glass Towers of Rio de Janeiro, walk on jingles and beaches, golf, visit museums, study, surf on the net, radical sports. But I love study, work and read. I love read scientist books on Copacabana Beach or surf on net on Ipanema with my laptop and see the sea.

brazilian men are God; women are trash. A man can beat you, torture you, burn and cripple you, for any perceived slight pertaining to manhood and marriage. You'll even get the fine, the guy won't get any punishment. Amaerican embassy/consulates don't evade brazilian law, so the rights and privileges you enjoy in the USA are not at all applicable in Brazil or any other foreign country for that matter. However, It's your life. expect and prepare for the worst, be pleasantly surprised if things don't turn out negative or go [farther] south...

Spraynwalls, You are a totally imbecile and retard. Are you drunk or what? Who told you, moron, women have no rights in Brazil? Are you trying to 'picture us' as another muslin fanatic theocratic ditactorship? Or a typical third world nation where laws don't exist? Brazil have one of the best and most appreciated code for the women's rights, and the law is very rigorous. Brazilian men are normal. Nor best and neither worst, but, just brazilians. Suzie "...in Rio De Janerio there are many drug addicts manily favelas, i think the best place is sao paulo..." Jardim Ângela, Capão Redondo, Freguesia do Ó, Grajaú, Vila Madalena are famous slums, all from Rio, of Course... By the way: the police from São Paulo have the records for intercepting drugs (cocaine) but, it would be sold only in Rio, of course...

Men in Brazil have a different perspective of beauty than American men. They are aggresive if they think you are easy. If they like you they will treat you with respect. The Brazilian man loves the BUNDA(BUTT) and not so much the fake pamela anderson breasts that you have in the US. The culture is similar to other male dominated south american countries but you should have more power being an american women. Be careful though. Judging from your picture you seem to be brown which means you might be mistaken for a local and be overlooked. Also be aware that opposites attracts in Brazil. Exotic to Brazilian men are blonde hair blue eyes even though there are many down south. If you dress professional and hang out in the business areas you should be fine. One thing you need to be aware of is that prostitution is legal so choose your friends carefully and don't blend in too well. If men think you are a local they might be aggressive. I had a well dressed american friend who was mistaken for a prostitute because she was black(or mix) until she told them she was an american. Good luck.I hope this helps.

Some of the poor guys can be very sleazy when it comes to girls, others have a huge heart even though they are poor it really depends where you are staying. My family is from Brazilia and they are rich well educated, in Rio De Janerio there are many drug addicts manily favelas, i think the best place is sao paulo even though people think its not a good tourist place. I hope you have a good job there. i can help with anything on this subject if you like.

I think it's great that you want to move to Brazil. I just came back from there last week from visiting my family. My whole family is Brazilian and we moved to the U.S. for my dad's job, and now we go back during the summers. I think the biggest difference you will see between American and Brazilian men is how open and warm Brazilians are. I know everyone here wrote pretty much the same thing, but that's because it really is true. The men are not afraid or embarassed to talk about the beauty in the world and they can quickly start a conversation with any stranger. Also, don't be surprised if the first time you meet a guy he kisses your cheek. It's like a handshake, and you can also kiss his :] Men there can talk for hours about anything and are always curious to learn more about others. This is the general attitude. Of course there is always the possibility of you meeting some jerk, but they're in every country. And if you'd really like to hear a guy talk nonstop, just bring up soccer, but I usually try not to ;] Good Luck!

Maybe, Rio Grande do Sul. European climate and look. The most beautiful brazilian girls, good food, etc.
2 :
Rio de Janeiro. The most beautiful women???Where did you get this information? People say in Brazil they are in Rio de Janeiro.
3 :
Depend what you r lookin 4. I mean its gotta be related with your skills. If you're marine researcher, if you're an upscale executive, if you're doctor, and so on. I'm suspect cause I'm from Sao Paulo (S.P.) and all my best friends are there, I grew amidst skyscrapers, when kid drunk water from tap while playing soccer, know the best spots 4 everything, etc. So I'm pretty much a metropolitan one. SP is for Brazil what Toronto is for Canada, what Milan is for Italy, per say its a financial capital, there resides the cash flow. Rio is great and the majority survives the crime and corruption, thought SP has a high rate of crime too, but in Rio at least for me is more difficult to recognize the bad ones. Salvador is great, slow pace, great nice people and great traditional cuisine, Fortaleza, Natal, Brasilia, Curitiba (for years it wons the prize for the most human and better quality life), Porto Alegre and many many more. So if you post more details I can work out in top of them. I would really suggest you to start from Sao Paulo and from there travel to other places, anyway SP north shore is the finest, places like Maresias, Baleia, Ubatuba, etc, are just paradise in earth, forget what you saw... and besides you have freedom in Brazil beaches, you can drink anytime, bbq, camp (not all the beaches and camping in Brazil is not popular like other countries), sing, play, Brazil is all about freedom there is no bylaws annoying your life, no eavesdrop / wiretapping in your phone, etc. God bless you. And good luck! :-)

I LOVE SAO PAULO! The country side up north SP like Riberao Preto, not Sao Paulo city, though I love more it more than NYC.
5 :
Urban kind of people: Sao Paulo Easy going and chaos person: Rio de Janeiro Mother Nature lover: Bahia European style, beach freak: Santa Catarina
6 :
I'm bazilian and I think the most developed states here on Brazil is RIO GRANDE DO SUL an the DISTRITO FEDERAL. But in general our country have a good live standard, many persons speaks english fluency ( I don't....) and almost all the students of the college and the high scholl know the basic english so you will not have difficult to find a person which speaks english. Hint: Prefer to write with you are trying to understand or to speak with someone or speak slow. Bye!!
7 :
BAHIAAAAA!!!!!!!
8 :
Maybe Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo

I would like to live in Brazil, what must I do.By the way I only speak Spanish/English,and it's not the same

I would like to live in Brazil, what must I do.By the way I only speak Spanish/English,and it's not the same.
Portuguese is the language of Brazil, not Spanish.Although Portuguese and Spanish are romance languages, and the two languages sound similar and had evolved from Latin, they are not the same,I researched that.I don't think Brazil is better than U.S.A because it's not,it's just that Brazil is so magnificently, beautiful, especially Rio De Janeiro, the Cariocas(local Brazilians from Rio De Janeiro)beautiful beaches, women, carnivals, samba, bossa nova, the ethnic melting pot, est. These people of Brazil are not Hispanic, but they look like them, and they are still beautiful ethnicly diverse people, from very dark,to light,to dark or light brown. These people are soccer freal fanatics,I just hope they don't kick my @ss if I say soccer, instead of football.I want to be around that environment, then I'll come back to the great U.S.A # ! nation.

you could learn some basic Portugese. Though some Brazilians might speak or understand Spanish, it would be better to practice Portugese. Good luck.
2 :
If you already speak Spanish learning Portuguese will not be difficult, I have recently learned it using Spanish as a base. Most Brazilians can understand you well if you speak Spanish, but you will have difficulty understanding them. There are many language acadamies in Rio and Sao Paulo that teach Portuguese from a Spanish point of view, and after a few weeks you will start to get a hang of it, though you wll be far from perfect. After three months or so, you should be doing pretty well.
3 :
Keep your typical American nationalit bullshit to yourself.
4 :
hey im brazilian!!Lol i learned spanish in brazil because its typical for the brazilians to learn spanish and people who know spanish to learn portuguese because it is easy you wont have trouble youll learn it fast if you try....Here it is ethnically diverse and really pretty beaches and you wont have trouble finding a pretty woman for yourself good luck!!! Move to sao it rock there!
