It's a great country, with fun and friendly people, great food, lots of nice sunshine. The cons are the cities are dangerous and as is not widely known Brazilians are very class conscious and more race conscious than you would guess from their reputation. But overall, my experiences there have been very positive, my wife's Brazilian and I've been there 6 times.

If I were you I would not come to Brazil. You're lucky not to have been born here, I am Brazilian and I'm very ashamed of being who I am. Here there is a lot of prostitution, drugs, pedophilia, here nothing's certain. And worse, the brasilian despise the Brazilians have something worse than that? Here is a lot of beggars in the street, much social inequality, the Brazilians here are ashamed of each other. Want a hint? Stay where you are. It is very dangerous. It is a disgusting country Cheers!

The south east is a really nice place. This region tends to be similar to Argentina. Tends to be fairly dangerous tho, especially in Rio. The north east has lots of poverty and isnt my favorite place. The south has amazing landscapes, the Iguazzu Falls are just AMAZING!!!!!! The west and north is basically the Amazon which are the lungs of the Earth.

I'm really Brazilian and I live in Brazil all my life. Brazil is a free country, with a respected democracy system. Last October, 03, more than 100 million Brazilians voted for general elections. At the same day, before midnight, all vote counting was finished. The election process is 100% computerized, very reliable and safe. Brazil is the 8th economy of the world. Everybody speaks portuguese, there is no other official language. Each region of Brazil has a different culture: - Northeasten has a poor economy, but it is beautiful and it has a rich rustic culture! The beaches are amazing! Salvador-BA is a kind of New Orleans because in Salvador was born the musical genres of Brazilian black music, and also the Capoeira. Recife-PE is beautiful, there is a famous school of Philosophy in Recife History. Natal-RN is a paradise! - Southeastern is the richest region of Brazil: São Paulo-SP, Rio de Janeiro-RJ, Belo Horizonte-MG and Vitória-ES. São Paulo is a cosmopolitan big city, like NYC. Rio is beautiful and touristic, it's like LA, because all artists and actors live in Rio. Vitória-ES is charming. - In center-western of Brazil there is its capital: BrasÃlia. Wonderful modernist architecture!!! - In north there is the Rain Forest and some indigenous reservations. - South of Brazil has more european descent culture than other regions. Curitiba-PR is the most beautiful city. Florianópolis-SC is good for water sports. Porto Alegre has a delicious churrasco! Brazil has wonderful food in all regions! Brazilians are very musical, with so many different genres of music: chorinho, samba, pagode, forró, baião, xote, frevo, maracatu, caipira, congo, axé... Brazil has also a great literature tradition: Gonçalves Dias, José de Alencar, Machado de Assis, Castro Alves, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Clarice Lispector, Jorge Amado... Brazil has all races and religions. Everybody lives in harmony with each other. No one fight for it. People, in general, are very happy (rich, middle class and poors). Brazilian's faces are very expressive. People smiles to you. Brazilians enjoy trying to communicate with foreign. I could talk for ever, but you would not understand what is Brazil, because Brazil is a mix of all cultures of the world. Each part of Brazil is different. All I can say is I love my country. It's good living here and became even better with president Lula. Watch this brazilian movie (with english subtitles): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90kBGBW4Ozw I'm sure you're going to love it! It is very funny! The story is told in Northeastern, at 30's. A smart guy and his friend fighting for survive. Hilarious! Based in a play written by Ariano Suassuna. The author showed big knowledge of Northeastern culture and more: beautiful lessons for life. Trust me, watch the movie and thumbs up if you like it. I already know you gonna love it.

Gorgeous place. Great girls :) Though it has to be stressed that the beauty I saw in Brazil was on the so called rich side which where most holiday makers go. The poorer side is a place probably best avoided if u don't want any negative confrontation. In general absolutely awesome, just stay safe. Love their culture also.
