In Brazil, more work force was needed at that time because of banning slaves. They wanted immigrants to work at the coffee farms. It was before WW2 Japanese people started imigration to Brazil. The government encouraged them and some people went there hoping to have a better life, dreaming a new place, or they were just thinking they earned some money there then return.
